A Fifteenth-Century Woodcut of the "Death of the Virgin" in a Manuscript of "Der Stachel der Liebe" [The author examines the development and meaning of an iconographic theme, the figure of the kneeling Virgin in woodcut scenes of the Dormition. This devotional image presented Mary as humankind's stongest intercessor with both her son and God.
